32 pp. of textual records Biographical SketchJoseph Simpson Arnison was the son of Nancy and John T. Arnison who arrived from England with their family in Pictou, Nova
Scotia between 1818 and 1820. Joseph Arnison returned to Newcastle, England, where he married Isabella Coulson Natusin in
1855. He operated a brewery and an export business to a store he owned in Pictou. Arnison sought to sell the store in 1865.
He died in Newcastle in July 1892.
Custodial HistoryDonated by Mrs. Clark Long in 1971. Return to the Table of ContentsScope and ContentFonds consists of promissary notes, an order from David M. Lead to Charles Irving, and cheques. These materials range between
the years 1858 and 1879. This fonds also contains agreements between the years 1863 and 1876 as well as business correspondence.

as agent in 1859, in addition to two cheques dated 1879.

Handwritten items. – Contains seven pieces of materials majorly agreements or leases. One of them is a memorandum of agreement
between Arnison and Malcolm Campbell for Wharf, Crechton Street, 1873. Another agreement is about sale of lands.

Handwritten items. – One letter dated 1874 consists of an acknowledgment of use of land beyond a certain distance from James
M. Lean to Arnison.
