Biographical Sketch

James Carmichael was the son of J.W. Carmichael of New Glasgow. He entered Dalhousie College in 1868 at the age of fourteen and graduated with a B.A. in 1872. He was on the Managing Committee of the Dalhousie Gazette from 1871-1872. After graduation he became Secretary of Dalhousie’s Alumni Association and began working in his father’s New Glasgow office.
