Biographical Sketch

James Baxter was born to Rev. John Baxter in 1844. He was from Onslow, Nova Scotia, and attended the Theological Seminary in Pictou, Nova Scotia, before attending Dalhousie College from 1863-1864. He attended lectures delivered by James Ross at the Theological Seminary in Pictou, NS, and Dalhousie College in Halifax, N.S.

Custodial History

The materials in this fonds were received by President Stanley Mackenzie in 1917. The complete custodial history is unknown, but the materials were accessioned by the archives in 1971.

Scope and Content

This fonds contains notes on lectures on logic delivered by James Ross at the Theological Seminary in Truro, NS, (1860-1861) and on Moral Philosophy at Dalhousie College (1863-1864) as well as certificates of attendance from the 1860s, and a photograph of Thomas McCulloch and others.
