Biographical Sketch

Janet Leffek was a Haligonian music teacher who operated her own music studio. She was very active in and supportive of the local arts community in Halifax and frequented many local arts events. She is the wife of a notable retired organic chemistry professor from Dalhousie University, Dr. Kenneth Leffek.

Scope and Content

This collection is primarily comprised of artistic programs from musical and theatrical events held predominantly in Nova Scotia, specifically in the Halifax area. The collection also includes some music school syllabi, event competition forms and regulations, newspaper clippings, and correspondence.

Scope and Content:
This series contains programs from a variety of performing artists and entities that performed in and around Halifax Nova Scotia. Included are programs from Symphony Nova Scotia, and the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, among others. Often the programs are connected to a particular performance venue more so than a single performing group. These venues include local churches, theatres and auditoriums such as the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium at Dalhousie University. Programs from local music festivals like the Nova Scotia Kiwanis Music Festival and the Halifax County Competitive Music Festival are also included in this series.

Folder 4.1 Atlantic Symphony Orchestra 1969-1973 Some programs are only partially complete. Includes programs from individual concerts as well as seasonal summary pamphlets. Also includes a youth concert program, a Dartmouth concert flier, an Easter concert program, and a mini-subscription flyer. One program is autographed by Dubravka Tomsic, pianist.
