Request Materials From Other Libraries - Novanet Express
Books and articles from journals which are listed in the Novanet catalogue or the “Our Catalogue and Beyond (Worldcat)” can be requested via either the “Request a Loan” or “Request a Copy” options in the Novanet catalogue or the “Dal/Novanet” links in Worldcat. This service is commonly known as Novanet Express.
Novanet Express, is available only to registered Novanet library users (faculty, staff and students of the Novanet member institutions and Nova Scotia residents who are 18 years or older ) Registration can be done at any of the Dalhousie library Circulation desks. Faculty, staff and students will need a current university or college ID card to register. Nova Scotia residents may use their current public library card or two pieces of identification, including one which shows proof of Nova Scotia residence to register.
Pricing
There is no charge for Novanet Express requests; however provision of items is at the discretion of the supplying library. It is not possible to request delivery of material owned by the pickup library.
Timing
Delivery is targeted to be within 3 business days of receipt of request.
How To Place an Order
Via the Novanet catalogue:

Online from from home or library workstations
- Search for the item in the Novanet catalogue. Click on the item title. Click on "All locations"

To order the loan of a book, click on the "Request a loan" option next to the location from which you wish to order the item. It is not possible to request delivery of material owned by the pickup library
- To request a photocopy of an item, click on "Request a photocopy." Then complete the details of the particular item which you want copied. Please note that Copyright prohibits copying more than one article per issue of a journal or one chapter from a book.

Via the WorldCat catalogue:
- Search for the item in the Worldcat catalogue. Click on the "Dal/Novanet" button next to the item. This will take you to the Novanet catalogue. Follow the instructions given above.
- If you are not already logged in, you will be prompted to type in your 14 digit barcode number, found on your University ID or Novanet registered card and the last 4 digits of your phone number currently on file with the Circulation department. If you have changed your password in Novanet use that as your password and not your phone number.
- If your login is unsuccessful please check with any Novanet Circulation department
Delivery

Books and photocopies may be picked up at the Novanet library of your choice normally within 72 hours of placing the request. (It is not possible to request delivery of material owned by the pickup library).

Photocopies may be faxed directly to a number of your choice. This option is not available from all Novanet libraries.

Requesters are notified of an item's arrival by email. If an item cannot be delivered, the cancellation message will also be sent by email..
